Description Production Engineering Manager (Manufacturing) Telford, Shropshire Circa £42,000 including car allowance
Our client concentrates exclusively on the manufacture of professional power tools – tools for people who earn their living using them.
Due to increased production in 2010, they have a vacancy for a Production Engineering Manager to join their team based in Telford, Shropshire. The main purpose of this role is:
• To maintain and improve the development of production engineering and related systems to achieve efficiency, cost and quality targets in both the assembly and manufacturing areas. • To ensure that the maintenance of plant and machinery throughout the site is operating efficiently to minimise downtime and maximise uptime. • To maintain and improve the development of waste reduction by engineering improvements in systems, processes and process capability with the aim of the least number of operational steps. • To maintain and improve the development of workflow planning achieving the targets or reduction in move and queue times. • To maintain and improve the capital equipment by proposal to enhance and improve the production of products. • To ensure that the introduction of new products into manufacturing and/or assembly is within the project’s financial and time objectives.
The successful candidate will hold an ILM/NVQ4 in supervisory management or equivalent together with a relevant engineering qualification with proven experience in a Production Engineering managerial role within a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will have a good working knowledge of fault diagnostics on mechanical and electrical faults with working knowledge of PLC programming and pneumatics. Good working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes including 5s, SPC, SMED, Kaizen, TPM and Health and Safety. You will be able to manage projects within time scales and budgets, and produce concise informative reports with best practice recommendations and also have experience of discipline and grievance hearings
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and tenacious with the drive to overcome barriers and problems. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must exercise an analytical approach and be a flexible, enthusiastic team player. Some off site work may be required within the UK or EU therefore a full UK driving licence is required. This role is not for the feint hearted; you must have a ‘can do’ attitude to problem solving.
